Under Warranty?

Posted February 4th, 2010 by melissa

By now most of you have had a chance to pull out your eBeam System after the Holiday break and scrapbook away.  Now would be a good time for you, technology coordinators, to check-in with your teachers and see if they need any additional accessories or service on any damaged hardware.  What kind of warranty does eBeam offer?  Luidia offers a two-year manufacturer warranty on the eBeam receiver, stylus and whiteboard pens.

How do you know if your damaged stylus is under warranty?  Locate the serial number on the eBeam receiver that coordinates with the stylus in question (there is no serial number on the actual pen) and email  that number to your local eBeam representative.  They can check to see if your eBeam part is still under warranty and give further instructions on repairing your system.  We even take care of the shipping for you, so there is no cost on your end to get a replacement part.  Now that’s service.

Luidia just lowered their price on the eBeam Projection Stylus Replacement.  The eBeam Projection uses a gray digital stylus to turn any standard whiteboard into an interactive space.  pen1The stylus, also known as the projection pen, has 2 buttons, a replaceable tip, and requires 1 AA battery.   You can now purchase a new stylus for only a third of the price at $44.99 instead of the former $134.95.  Teachers who need to replace their pen or keep an additional stylus on hand can now take advantage of the new low price.  The eBeam Projection Stylus Replacement comes with 1 interactive stylus and 2 spare replaceable nibs.  Battery not included.

There’s also good news for eBeam Edge users.  The brand new eBeam Edge stylus shares the same low price for a replacement at only $44.99.  The Edge Stylus Replacement comes with 1 replacement stylus, 4 spare replaceable nibs and 1 AAA battery.

The Edge

imagephpThis summer, Luidia the manufacturer of eBeam, launched the new eBeam Edge which is the world’s smallest interactive whiteboard solution. Weighing less than 4 oz., the eBeam Edge can be placed on any “edge” of the board (the left edge works the best). The new sleek design of the eBeam is very impressive and since the new receiver is white, it virtually blends right into the whiteboard. The new hardware and firmware has been upgraded to allow for no lag time between pen and pixel. There is a new calibration button built-in to the eBeam receiver. Teachers can instantly pull up the calibration screen with just a touch of the button without having to use the eBeam toolbar. The Edge brags the largest active area in the market with a 5′ x 9′ projected image (123″ diagonal).

The Edge has integrated receiver magnets which allow the user to pop the eBeam on and off of a magnetic board as needed. If you are using a non-magnetic whiteboard, the included stainless steel mounting plates with 3M double sided sticky tape allow for a secure attachment of the eBeam to the dry-erase surface. The eBeam Edge comes with a new projection stylus! The new stylus is a slimmer design that is more ergonomic for the every-day eBeam user. It still has 3 buttons: left click, right click and eBeam toolbar access. The tip of the new stylus is more pointed than the rounded tip of the eBeam System 3. The Edge Stylus uses 1 AAA battery while the System 3 stylus uses 1 AA battery. While the overall package price of the Edge is higher than the System 3, you’ll be glad to know the replacement price of the new stylus is $44.95 as compared to the $134.95 of the System 3.

The Edge works with the new Interact 2.2.2 and Capture 2.2.2 software for PC and works with the Interact 1.3.1 for Mac. The Capture feature for Mac will be coming soon for the Edge! The Edge is available in USB only; a Bluetooth version will be available closer to the end of the year.
