Techy Tuesdays: eBeam Edge Doesn’t Calibrate

Posted September 21st, 2010 by melissa

Welcome to a new weekly post called Techy Tuesdays.  Once a week iloveebeam will share tips, tricks and techy tidbits to help you become a successful eBeam user.  This week our topic is how to troubleshoot what is wrong when your eBeam Edge USB doesn’t calibrate.  When you pull up your calibration screen, and you tap the center of the first red target with your stylus and nothing happens, here are the first four things you need to check:

1. Is my eBeam Edge USB glowing green on the front of the receiver? The green light indicates the unit is getting power.  No light -> call tech support.

2. Check the position of the eBeam Edge on the whiteboard. Make sure the receiver is at least one inch away from the projected image.

3. Check the AAA battery in your stylus. When you touch the tip of the stylus and press down, you should hear a slight buzzing sound.  No buzzing sound -> replace battery.

4. Turn off the lights before you calibrate. Occasionally overhead fluorescent lighting can interfere with the infrared technology in the eBeam.

——If you have gone through these steps and your eBeam Edge is still not calibrating, continue with these next steps—–

5. Restart your computer. Rebooting your computer will resolve 99% of all eBeam technical issues.

6. Try another USB port on your computer. Try a port that you use regularly and know is working correctly.

7. Reinstall the eBeam software. Click HERE to download the most current eBeam software.

8. Try another computer. Take your eBeam Edge USB and your USB cable and connect to a different computer.

Once you have completed these eight troubleshooting steps and are still not able to calibrate, please call tech support with your results.

Tablet Setup and Troubleshooting

Posted September 10th, 2010 by melissa

The eBeam Inscribe 200e Wireless Tablet is a breeze to use and check out our new LOWER PRICE!   Setup takes a few minutes straight out of the box and a few seconds at the beginning of each class.  To begin using your eBeam tablet, follow these SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download the latest eBeam Interact Software for Mac and Windows HERE.

2. Download the latest eBeam Inscribe Driver for Mac and Windows HERE.

3. Insert the Lithium battery into the back of the tablet and connect the USB cable from the tablet to your computer.  The tablet will begin charging as the blue light indicates on the front of the tablet.

4. Insert the AAA battery into the stylus.

5. Remove the RF receiver from the back of the tablet and plug directly into your computer’s USB port.  The receiver must be connected to your computer in order to use the tablet.

6.  To pair your computer with your new tablet, first turn on the tablet by pressing the ON/OFF button on the upper left corner of the tablet.

7. You will now see icons on the LCD screen.  The tablet should read “000″.

8. Press and hold the red “connect” button on the back of your eBeam tablet and the button on your RF receiver at the same time.

9.  The “000″ on the LCD screen will begin flashing.  Keep holding the two buttons at the same time until you see the “000″ flash to “001″.

10.  As soon as you see the number change to  “001″, let go.

11. Turn off the tablet by pressing the ON/OFF button on the upper left corner of the tablet.

12. Turn on the tablet.  You should see “001″ on the LCD screen as well as a wireless symbol above the number.

Your tablet is now paired to your computer.  You will not have to repair it again.  When you want to use your wireless tablet, simply turn on the tablet and move the stylus around the pad until it has control of the computer’s mouse.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIP: There is a certain order that you need to follow when turning on your tablet and opening the eBeam software.  Always turn your tablet on first and then open the eBeam software.  The shortcut keys on the tablet will not work if you open your Scrapbook software first before connecting your tablet.  When the eBeam Scrapbook software opens, it talks to the shortcut keys on the eBeam tablet.  If the software is already open and then you turn on your tablet, exit the software and turn off your tablet.  Turn your tablet on first and then reopen the software to access the shortcut keys on the tablet.
